General information
What will the other delegates be like?
The majority of delegates are currently in middle or senior roles. What they tend to have in common is an awareness that they require a broader view of other management functions in order to complement their own area of specialisation. In addition to those with finance, marketing and HR backgrounds, there will typically be lawyers, engineers, research scientists and other professionals on the course.
What sort of businesses do they come from?
While large, blue chip companies are often represented – from a variety of different sectors such as technology, utilities, telecommunications and pharmaceuticals – we also have delegates from professional services, public sector bodies and the not-for-profit sector. The mix of delegates from different economic sectors and functional expertise contributes greatly to the richness of the programme.
How intensive is the programme?
We like to strike a balance between a full, stimulating programme and the opportunity to network with other delegates. While there will be some work on the case study every evening (and preparation for the next day’s course), you will not be expected to work in syndicate teams until 2.00am every morning!
Is there much work to do before the course?
Depending on the requirements of the faculty of the programme you will attend, there will be some pre-sessional reading. This is generally no more than a few well-chosen articles and some practical exercises to get you prepared before you arrive.
Do I need to bring any equipment with me?
Please bring a pocket calculator – you will need to do some basic percentage calculations on the finance day. You are welcome to bring your laptop with you if you intend to catch up on work (not that this is recommended), but a laptop and other equipment will be provided for exercises involving presentations.
How is the programme delivered?
To maintain your attention throughout the course, a variety of participative learning methods have been developed. These include formal lectures, workshop sessions, teamwork projects, individual exercises, management models and concepts. You certainly won’t be sitting listening all day.
What should I wear?
The dress code for ‘The 5 day MBA!™’ is smart casual, so you do not need to wear a suit and tie. The venues we use have great facilities so it may also be worth bringing your swimming costume or sports equipment.
Will I really get an MBA in only five days?
‘The 5 day MBA!™’ is not an academic qualification. However, by covering the foundations of such a qualification to the same standard, it does provide the core principles of a full-time MBA.
Do I need to arrange my own accommodation?
No. ‘The 5 day MBA!™’ is fully residential and that means your hotel room and all meals are included in the programme fee. We will book your hotel room on your behalf. All we ask is that you tell us about any specific dietary requirements and let us know if you will arrive late on the Sunday.
Does this count towards my CPD requirements?
Certificates of attendance will be given to all delegates, so that they may claim appropriate credits in respect of continuing professional development requirements.
